There are various ways to get involved in the Lower Hudson PRISM, including surveying for invasive species, logging sightings, removing invasive species, developing content for new brochures, etc. Below you can find some of the ways to get involved, but the first step is to attend a meeting or become a partner!
Help record Phenological information about Invasive plants in our region - Submit information
- Phenological observations of the emergence, flowering, of fruiting of invasive species. Observations are especially valuable if this species easy to identify.
- Timed/seasonal recommendations for managing invasive species. In other words, how and when is the best time to treat this species?
- Phenological observations of native species that make good alternatives to invasive species in the garden
The Community Action Plan Calendar - a Google calendar that includes phenological information about invasive plants in the area
Join the BlockBuster Survey
In 2015 members of the Lower Hudson PRISM created a BlockBuster Survey to enhance the understanding of the spatial dimensions of invasive species distribution within the PRISM region. Various PRISM partners offer trainings that teach you how to identify various Hudson Valley invasive species, where to look for them, and how to record sightings. Each volunteer chooses a "block," or a 5x5 km area within the Hudson Valley to survey.

Many of our PRISM partners have volunteer opportunities within their organizations. For more information about what opportunities are available, click here.
