Dear NEAPMS Members and Friends,

Attached, please find the preliminary conference program for the January 2015 meeting of the Northeast Aquatic Plant Management Society (NEAPMS).

Conference Overview:  The January 2015 Annual Meeting of the Northeast Aquatic Plant Management Society will be held at the Gideon Putnam Resort in Saratoga Springs, New York, from January 20-22, 2015.  We start off on Tuesday, January 20th, with pre-conference workshops in the afternoon, followed by a cocktail hour, and then dinner and entertainment on your own at one of the many local eateries in downtown Saratoga Springs (a list of options will be emailed to conference registrants prior to the meeting, and a copy will be included in the program packet at the conference).

On Wednesday we will have a number of technical presentations covering a range of topics including a discussion of why we manage aquatic plants and algae, prevention and early detection of aquatic plants, and a variety of talks on management of aquatic plants.  Wednesday evening we will have our awards banquet, followed by the NEAPMS hospitality suite.

On Thursday January 22nd, we will continue with a series of technical presentations through the morning, covering topics related to aquatic plants and water quality and aquatic plant biology and ecology, ending with a luncheon from 12-1pm.

Recertification credits will be available for this meeting.

IMPORTANT ITEMS:

Conference Registration:  You may register online through the NEAPMS website at www.neapms.net , or you may complete the registration form in the attached Call for Papers and mail it and a check to NEAPMS at the address supplied at the top of the form.  Please register by January 9, 2015; after this date a late fee of $15 per individual registration will be charged.

Student Registration:  It is the policy of NEAPMS to encourage student attendance and participation.  The society will pay for up to 10 students to attend the annual meeting (meals and hotel reimbursement), under waivers from the society.  There will be a limit of three students per academic institution.  Students receiving waivers must present a poster or oral presentation of their graduate or undergraduate research or work to date in order to be considered for a waiver.

Conference Accommodations:  You may book your rooms by calling the Gideon Putnam Resort at 866-890-1171.  Room rates are $109/night, single or double occupancy, plus tax.  Rooms must be booked by December 20, 2014 in order to take advantage of the conference rate.  Please reference the NE Aquatic Plant Management Society when registering.

Silent Auction:  Please plan to add an item to the always enticing NEAPMS silent auction table at the Annual Conference.  If you are not feeling creative and are not sure what to donate, why not provide some cash for an item that the Silent Auction coordinators pick?  To donate an item or inquire about the process, please contact Ann Bove at ann.bove@state.vt.us or John McPhredran at john.mcphedran@maine.gov.

Sponsors and Exhibitors:  We have plenty of opportunities available for you to sponsor our meeting or exhibit during the meeting.  For questions about sponsorship opportunities or exhibitor spaces please contact Glenn Sullivan at glenn@alliedbiological.com.

Poster Competition:  This year NEAPMS will be holding a technical poster competition. Prizes will be awarded for the best student and best professional poster.  Contact Chris Doyle at doyle@alliedbiological.com for details.

Nominations:  We will be holding elections at our annual Business Meeting during the conference.  If you are interested in serving on the NEAPMS Board of Directors, or know someone who is, please contact our NEAPMS President, JoAnn Dunlap at jdunlap@cygnetenterprises.com.
