Water chestnut drastically impedes recreational access, reduces water quality, and impacts freshwater habitat for our native fish and wildlife. Join us in helping to protect and preserve our waters by removing this invasive plant!

Join the Trail Conference's Aquatic Invasives Strike Force as we remove water chestnut from Rockland Lake in Rockland Lake State Park. Anyone can participate, but folks should be comfortable getting wet and coming into contact with algae, spiders, insects, crayfish, and various other critters that may be present. Bring plenty of water and snacks or lunch if you plan on staying for the full trip, as well as muscle power! Nutlets can be sharp, so you may wish to bring rubberized or leather work gloves as well.

Exact meeting place and more details will be provided upon sign-up.

The event is free, but please select "Kayak Needed" or "Kayak not Needed" under the Event Fee section when signing up. Kayak availability is extemely limited, and we want to be sure folks who need one will have one available to them!

For volunteers under age 18, please submit a Guardian Consent form to volunteer@nynjtc.org prior to the volunteer day or bring the paper form the day of. A parent or guardian must be present for the volunteer day.
