Invasive Plants

Identification, Control, and Removal

Perhaps you heard or read about non-native animals threatening local ecosystems, such as Asian carp in the Great Lakes,

Burmese pythons in the Florida Everglades, or wild boars in Texas.

While these invasive animal species are not present in the

Lower Hudson Valley, Rockland County is threatened by

invasive plant species, such as oriental bittersweet,

garlic mustard, and tree-of-heaven.

This presentation and discussion by Glenn Sungela will help you understand what invasive plant species are, the threats they pose to our native environments and livelihoods, how to identify common invasive plants in our area, and what you can do to help control and eradicate them.
