A group of people outside in winter looking at a stand of trees

On Saturday, March 17 from 10 am - 12 noon, or from 1 pm - 3 pm, join Cary Institute wildlife biologist Mike Fargione and Dutchess Land Conservancy ecologist Julie Hart for a tree identification workshop and walk.

Wise forest stewardship requires that landowners familiarize themselves with the woody plants on their property. Participants will learn to recognize native and invasive trees and shrubs by their shape, bark patterns, twigs, fruits, and seeds. They will also gain experience using identification keys.

There will be an indoor workshop followed by a walk. Wear boots, dress in layers, and bring a hand lens or magnifying glass if you have one. Please note: due to high interest, there will be two (identical) sessions of the program, one starting at 10 am and one starting at 1 pm.

Pre-registration is required. Register online at http://caryinstitute.org/events. Space is limited.

The program will begin at the Cary Institute main campus lobby, 2801 Sharon Turnpike (Rte. 44) in Millbrook, New York.

Cary Institute is a LH PRISM Partner.
