Benefits of Partnership
Access to Expertise
Our partners are at the forefront of regional invasive species research and development of best management practices, or BMPs. Partners can access and contribute to our collective knowledge on regional invasives management issues.
Funding Opportunities
LHPRISM is able to allocate resources from the New York Environmental Protection Fund to projects that support the mission of the PRISM. Some of the contracted partner projects include surveying, treating or managing high threat invasive species in the Lower Hudson region, while others develop or provide educational and outreach material for targeted audiences.
Networking
LHPRISM meetings take place four times annually. In person meetings are held at partner properties where attendees can see invasives work in action and interact with colleagues through live demonstrations, presentations and informative discussion forums. These meetings and the creation of focused working groups provide partners with opportunities to share knowledge and to collaborate on projects of common interest.
Eligibility
Any organization involved in invasive species education, management, surveying, or mapping is eligible to join. We have partners from local businesses, non-profits, government, and local groups, all of whom are dedicated to protecting our region from the threat and spread of invasive species.
Partner Requirements
• Attend at least 2 of the 4 partner meetings each year
• Submit an annual summary of the invasive species activities of your organization
• Support the LHPRISM strategic plan and work cooperatively with other partners
